Hypocrite Taboo

$27.00

I asked Hanan, “Why didn't you try to get to know someone of the same religion and belief as you?”

She replied, “How can I expose myself in front of my clan and my family? Before marriage, the Sheikh's wife would take me alone to check my virginity.” (She noted here that that is not the correct way to measure “honour”.)

“Neither the clan nor society nor the law protects me. Yes, I made a mistake. I was a girl, still in my childhood, but with a lot of hormonal changes and desires, I did not have anyone to advise me and protect me from myself.”

Dear reader, this issue is not the issue of Hanan alone in our masculine world, which will give the first and last word in favour of the male who is allowed to be free in his actions and in his desires. While, in the other, he wants a girl untouched and who never made any mistakes.

In a world where there is no legal, societal, or moral deterrent to prevent a man from abusing girls, how many girls are there like Hanan? Dozens! Hundreds! Or maybe thousands of women we don’t know anything about.  Maybe they committed suicide or turned to prostitution out of desperation.

In our patriarchal societies, we need a lot of education and laws to deter such situations and not allow our world to remain animalistic.
